Splash of Water

What age groups do you cater to in your swimming lessons?

I provide swimming lessons for children of all ages, starting from infants at 6mo through to adolescents, tailoring each lesson to meet the developmental and sensory needs of each age group. If an adult is interested I can also help teach them.

How do you accommodate children with sensory sensitivities?

I customize lessons to each child's sensory preferences, using tools like earplugs or goggles when needed and adjusting the water environment to ensure comfort and reduce sensory overload.

What structure do your lessons follow?

My lessons are highly structured, with consistent schedules and clear outlines of activities. This structure helps create a predictable and secure learning environment for children with ASD.

Do you teach ISR?

I do not teach ISR! I own my own company, I do teach infant skills that will help them but ISR is a company that charges a $10,000 fee for affiliation membership, offering benefits like training, branding, and marketing support. This business model is typical for franchises or membership-based organizations across various industries. I do not need them to teach me skills I already know.

How do you incorporate a child's interests into swimming lessons? By understanding each child's specific interests, I integrate relevant games and activities into the lessons, making learning more engaging and enjoyable for them.

What communication techniques do you use? I employ clear, concise, and direct language, supplemented with visual aids, to ensure instructions and feedback are easily understood, avoiding confusion and enhancing learning.

How do you ensure the safety and comfort of the children? Safety is my top priority. I introduce children to the water gradually, always maintain close supervision, and adjust activities to each child's comfort level, ensuring a positive and secure experience.

Can you describe how you build trust and rapport with your students? I invest time in getting to know each child, providing consistent and predictable interactions, and creating a calm, supportive presence to foster trust and a positive relationship.

What is your approach to working with parents and caregivers? I actively collaborate with parents and caregivers, seeking their insights to tailor lessons, setting shared goals, and keeping them informed of progress and strategies for reinforcement at home.

What training do you have in teaching swimming to children with ASD? I have worked with children with ASD many times and love teaching different techniques. I focus on using visual aids, keeping lessons structured, and making the water comfortable for them. I communicate clearly, use positive feedback, and involve the child's interests to make learning fun. Safety is my top priority, and I patiently help each child get used to the water. Building trust with the children and working closely with their families are key parts of my teaching. With my training in teaching children with ASD, I aim to make swimming a positive and developmental experience for them. I've come up with specific strategies, techniques, and an understanding of how to effectively meet their unique needs.

How do you measure progress in your swimming lessons? Progress is measured through individualized goals set at the beginning of the lessons, focusing on water safety, skill acquisition, and the child's growing confidence and comfort in the water. Regular feedback and assessments are provided to parents and caregivers.
